This year the Annual Medieval Festival in Washington Heights-Inwood will be this coming Sunday, September 28th. I can’t believe that after living in Washington-Inwood Heights (thus the term Wahi; it makes the two places become one, but some people are still not used to it) so for long, I finally went last year; for the first time. Actually, I can believe it because I was thinking…why do I want to see Medieval people? That was back then. This is now.
As soon as I walked in I was sure to be entertained. People dressed like Medieval Times, singing tunes, selling crafts. A guy was chopping wood like the good old days. All sorts of things. The costumes are amazing and the scenery can’t be better than Fort Tryon Park.
This time around I will go earlier and make sure to take cash at hand because there are vendors with the most fantastic incense and home made beauty products. They smell good. Don’t worry, they don’t smell Medieval. Below, I have copied and pasted the information for the festival as received form an email. For further info, this is the official site: http://www.whidc.org/festival/home.html
Please let me know if there is anything super cool I must check out at the Festival in a comment below!
