I love this NYC Summer Event. The New York Philharmonic performs a yearly concert in parks across New York City.
Today (Friday, July 11) the NY Philharmonic lead by conductor Alan Gilbert will perform in Central Park. The concert is at 8pm though I saw on their Twitter account that people are already there enjoying picnics. It is always packed but the Great Lawn is huge so you can always find space and view the beautiful fireworks after the program. It should be a fabulous night as a Super Moon will be sharing its special light.
If you can’t make it today, don’t worry, there is another one on Monday, July 14th, 2014 at Central Park’s Great Lawn again.
On Tuesday, July 15th, the New York Philharmonic is scheduled to perform in Van Cortlandt Park at 8pm as well. (Weather reports show a thunderstorm is expected. I don’t know what happens then).

I’d also like to thank Didi and Oscar Schafer. No, I don’t know them but their contributions make this concert happen every year. More info on them here.
Also thanks to the Ford Foundation and all of the musicians that perform.
